It is an exuberant place with culture and creativity
The cultural heritage of Manchester is legendary and that is why students would find it ideal to seek inspiration. This city produced bands such as Oasis, The Smiths and Joy Division and has an almost unrivalled music scene. Whether on a packed gig at the Co-op Live – the biggest entertainment space in the UK or in an intimate night at the Band on the Wall, you can fill the city with music and places where you can enjoy it.
As a student, Alexia, a Spanish, has been to pub in Manchester, and there is always live music, she says. This is not the tradition I am accustomed to and I would like to thank every capable band and musician who is having performances in Manchester and in the rest of UK. When I am out at a pub in this country, I hear folk music that makes one fall head over heels in love with the city. ‘Manchester is city with a rich and vibrant culture’, she says. It is more or less like a micro-version of London and the reason is similar in the sense that there is everything one would want to see in terms of cultural activities, pubs and restaurants but in a smaller version. It has everything you would want that you could find in a major city yet not have to live (or pay to live) in one.’
The artistic mood of Manchester will also capture the hearts of art enthusiasts. To taste some of the surrounding history and innovation visit the science and industry museum or The Whitworth Art Gallery where the industrial past of Manchester collides with the innovated present. Other highlights are the festival calendar in the city. Whether it be the hardcore and lively Manchester Pride or Manchester International festival which is famous all over the globe, there is always an event which makes the city come to life.
